The 17th. On same plan exactly; the lobes a little more ridged The 19th. Something more modern in look. Great pains have been taken about it. The leaves sweep more in their flow; the angle leaves have seven ribs for five; and as this gives two more great divisions, each div[s]ision is shorter and has a lobe less; the effect is less graceful; They are more modulated in surface; and the ribs are not only morefine, but have a different character about the joint. Fig 1 p 52 is the general skeleton of the 19th angle leaf; Fig 2 its upper forks real size. Fig 3 the forks of the 5th real size (I say so in note, but they are Note on section A. The projecting mass is the limiting not thick enough) outline within which the figure and leaf are worked. The vegetable organization is thus much more prononcé in the 5th. The diminution of the stem as it forks is most adm rably observed in both. The 25th. (Seasons) This is the best preserved and most valuable of the series.
