                                                                      	equestrian, whose surrounding crocketing is the most
                                                                      luxuriant I have seen except that of the Beato Pacifico;
                                                                      It is put - horse, canopy and all within a huge lozenge
                                                                      or multifoiled figure, composed by a thick trunk of a tree
                                                                      which throws out enormous leaves at intervals inserting
                                                                      the stalks into their centres like some Early
                                                                      English ornaments or early French - the cathedral of Mars,
                                                                      for instance - copied in Santa chapelle; but the leaves

                                                                      St Marks and the early English - the form of the latter,
                                                                      the feeling of the former.
                                                                      So again I have noticed all the cinque cento work here -
                                                                      formed on Romanessque plans: and in general I have been
                                                                      struck with the remarkable power in composition shown in
                                                                      every style:  which is shown by this Veronese workmen;
                                                                      I was disappointed in the Effigy of San Grande to-day:
                                                                      Case Grande	the face is huge features coarse, and with an uncanny
                                                                      smile on it - but seem from below, the general placing of
                                                                      the figure is touching beyond description - not a fold -
                                                                      not a line is lost, no one wrong - and this may perhaps
                                                                      seem still more singular, considering that the figure is
                                                                      entirely separate from the couch on which it is placed.
                                                                      it is worked in a separate piece and the whole body forms
                                                                      a kind of arch - from the feet to the shoulder - which
                                                                      bend to the pillow - the latter forming the shortest arm
                                                                      of an ogee curse so that there is from three to four
