The capital under this ornament is horribly broken,                   		same as those of the other, only its dentil projects a 
and its great roll shattered;  in one place neatly across             		little more section fig 1; p 50 palace book.

                                                                      		joints perpendicular to the circles.
                                                                      		The marbles are covered with a rusty coating, through
                                                                      		which it is almost impossible to make out the colours:
                                                                      		But the white is {a marble} certainly in places veined with
                                                                      		{pure bright} purple;  and the grey seems warmed with gold
                                                                      		or green.
                                                                      		The inner circle is the same deep green serpentine.  The
                                                                      		boss is gone.
                                                                      		There is a trace and no more, of another of these
                                                                      		traceries between the 3rd and fourth arches, counting
                                                                      		from Adam on the piazzetta side;  This has been torn down,
                                                                      		but I think in the other arches the marbles have not
                                                                      		been put up.
                                                                      		The height of the great arches. Vertically c C is 6 " 8
                                                                      		             and a b about                       10 " 4½
                                                                      	A	               All the main shafts towards sea are Seven
                                                                      		                feet round at the base. except the Bon
                                                                      		[drawing] one, 15th p 71 M. which is 8 " 2 round and the angle
                                                                      		one, which is 10 " 3 round.
