                                                                      St M. Matre Domini.  The beautiful 2nd order house daged
                                                                      		The cusp on the left has head in centre between sun and
                                                                      		moon;  and bold 4 lobed roses, very bulging;  the others
                                                                      		have leaves in centre.  The capitals 1 section of do 2
                                                                      		plan of do 3 and base of shaft (very unusual:  and rather
                                                                      		doubtful:  I did not get up to it)  4:  p 42 door book
                                                                      		The square part of it is a pedestal.  I think added.
                                                                      		The capital is remarkable for its excessively delicate
                                                                      		fillet.
                                                                      Pointed Early Gate in Salizzada di San Lio:  between S.M.Formosa and
                                                                      		Rialto.  P. 46 l door book, profile of side jamb head
                                                                      		in stone all else brick:  at p 46 top on same scale:
                                                                      		all is brick except shield which is defaced a fragment
                                                                      		of dentil only left;  it is very delightful to see the
                                                                      		neat way in which the brick borders it. p 47 l fig l
This house has had an upper tier of windows now gone, with the        		general look;  From a to b is nearly two feet and
same plinth below as the small pair;  and two fragments of            		from b to c 8 to nine.
exquisite Byzantine work are in the walls.                            		This gateway is high;  and admits into a small court;
                                                                      		it is part of a noble old house, of which only the pair of
                                                                      		small windows are left;  fig 2 p 47 l.  I think the
                                                                      		prettiest of their kind in Venice, their stilt is much
                                                                      		clearer and truer than I have drawn it and their archivolt
                                                                      		moulding should be a little broader;  shaft and all, they
                                                                      		are not above 6 feet high if so much, but nice and deep.
