                                                                      		And so in some sort, all the fine arts may be said to be
                                                                      		produced by that to which they are addressed;  the Senses
                                                                      		affections and intelligence guarding the hand:  resolution
                                                                      		and imagination.
                                                                      		Now then, having the Human being divided into two halves
                                                                      		the active and receptive and each of these halves including
                                                                      		the three elements of his Maker, Body soul and spirit
                                                                      		we may refer the arts to either half of him we choose;
                                                                      		and class them according to the nobleness of that by
                                                                      		which they are produced, and of that by which they are
                                                                      		received.
                                                                      		Now the conclusion will in some cases be correspondent
                                                                      		in others; an art will stand high on one side  low on
                                                                      		the other;  Cookery for instance:  I believe it requires
                                                                      		mearly as much intelligence to be a good cook;  as to be
                                                                      		a good politician;  and that both invention and observation
                                                                      		must be possessed in a high degree in order to
                                                                      		succeed;  But as addressed to the senses only, the
                                                                      		art stands low on the other side of the scale;  a. insert

                                                                      		the true rank is therefore to find and express by figures
