Palazzo Contarini Degli Scrigni and Corfu (Dorsoduro 1057, Nadali & Vianello (1999) Tav. 40) although Ruskin states opposite at House Book 1 p.13L that it is ‘Called Ca Falier by Valet’. However, he also calls it the Palazzo Contarini degli [?] Scrigni on the same page (extreme right hand side, landscape orientation). The canal Ruskin refers to is the Rio di San Trovaso. This is clearly the Palazzo Contarini Degli Scrigni and Corfu (right side) which is made up of two linked buildings, the left hand one being classical in design. Ruskin refers to the presence of a ‘Turkish Lunet’ which can still be observed on the roof. The palace actually described by Ruskin is the adjoining 15th Century Palazzo Contarini-Corfu at the right side. The Palazzo Contarini Degli Scrigni is the later extension (Scamozzi, 1609) of the Gothic Contarini-Corfu. The two buildings together usually described as Contarini Degli Scrigni.
