Chiesa di S. M. di Nazareth called ‘degli Scalzi’ (Cannaregio, Nadali & Vianello (1999) Tav. 15). Next to railway station. For what Ruskin saw see Works, 10.300 (facing) Plate XV1 ‘Windows of the Fourth Order’
This is now presumably the site of the Former Palazzo Foscari (S. Croce 729), being ‘nearly opposite the church of the Scalzi’. The original gothic palazzo was re-built in the 1950s and replaced with a modern structure. The other buildings ‘nearly opposite’ are the attached Casa Riofo (a 1930s building in gothic style with windows exactly similar to those in Ruskin’s drawing at DB 53L. It could well be that the stonework for the windows was re-used in the modern building. The 15th Century Palazzetto Foscari which stood on this site was pulled down.
