Being the author!

Our answer to part 8:

You could, but there wouldn't seem to be much point in it. The 3rd-person mode allows the narration (a) to take up a standpoint independent of any particular character when needed, and (b) to take up the standpoint of first one character, and then another, if necessary. The 1st-person mode restricts the narration to what that narrator-character can perceive, and so is the natural choice if one and one only viewpoint is to be instantiated.
