OPTIMUM VIEWING This website was originally constructed on a PC with a screen
resolution of 1024 x 768,
and an aspect ratio of 4:3. Since then, many more varieties of screens and screen resolutions have been introduced. We have adjusted it accordingly. It should run well on a PC using Google Chrome, Internet Explorer and its successors, and Mozilla Firefox. We would welcome feedback from readers trying to run it on a MAC. It works on most smartphones and tablets. NAVIGATION For the main material, the Navigation Bar runs across the top of the page. Information at the left shows where you are in the book or manuscript. Links within the text are marked with a grey dotted line. When the mouse runs over it, the text changes colour and is highlighted: A click will usually produce an independent pop-up window which can be closed after viewing. From the main index pages (versions of Journal, images, etc) the links lead directly to the relevant page. BEWARE! If your browser has its pop-up blocker activated, the windows will still open, but not as elegantly as we would like or in the places we want them. Please disable it if your browser gives you the choice. Google Maps and Video may not appear at all unless you temporarily disable it for material from this source and Google. |
