The Anniversary Event will consist of a series of talks and round table discussions that focus on research areas to which the Department of Linguistics and English Language has made a substantial contribution over the past four decades.
Confirmed speakers include Charles Alderson, David Barton, Jonathan Culpeper, Norman Fairclough, Roz Ivanic, Geoffrey Leech, Alison Mackey, Tony McEnery, Elena Semino, Mick Short, Dianne Wall, Alan Waters, and Ruth Wodak.
The programme for Friday 11 July 2014 will include a public lecture by David and Hilary Crystal on ‘How to be an English Language Tourist’.
This will be followed by a dinner at Lancaster Town Hall, accompanied by a wide-ranging musical programme put on by our Department’s home-grown musicians. The evening will also include a performance by David and Hilary Crystal on Shakespeare’s Original Pronunciation.
And of course there will be ample opportunities to re-unite with former fellow students and colleagues and take a trip or two down memory lane.
