Home'Mobility Cultures' brings together people who draw upon literary/cultural texts in their mobilities research (e.g., sociologists, geographers, environmentalists, those working in transport studies)and Humanities scholars (across the disciplines) whose research has a mobilities dimension. The day will begin with a keynote lecture by Pete Merriman – a geographer who has worked with literary and other texts in his research on automobility for many years – and will be followed by x3 panels of x3 speakers We are very much hoping that the day will be an opportunity for colleagues from across the disciplines with an interest in the cultural representation of mobilities to get together, and all participants will be invited to post a bio on the website to capitalise on the networking potential of the event. Nearer the time we will also invite participants to post PDFs of publications / posters on the site if they wish. Lancaster Centre for Mobilities Research (CeMoRe) is kindly funding the conference /catering and, while we are not in a position to cover the cost of participants' accommodation and travel, there will be no registration charge. |
