McCarten who was warden of Bowerham
Barracks for 20 years. His mother resides
at 1, Gordon Villas, Lancaster.A brother
of his was killed in the South African
war, and a cousin, Lieutenant G H Walker
of the 4th Battalion Kings Own Royal
Lancaster Regiment was killed in Flanders
a year ago.
