‘Most job-hunters who fail to find their dream job fail not because they lack information about the job market, but because they lack information about themselves’ - Dick Bolles
Strong self-knowledge starts with making protected time to start to uncover who you are, and where you are, explore your assumptions about yourself, and consider what steps or experiments will develop your confidence and your potential. In this session you’ll make a space to explore what sort of person you are; your needs, wants and goals, things you do naturally, and what excites you and keeps you motivated. You’ll start to identify more clearly your own key resources, and what you bring to your work, and to a team.
‘I think it is an amazing way to understand or even confirm what we already know about our potential.’
‘I learned my different strengths and weaknesses. It was interesting to break down my personality and characteristics and have everything in one place. I am more confident now how I can contribute to the team and help others when they struggle or need help.’
This is a bite-sized practice-based session from our ‘Engagement Academy Programme’. It aims to engage you, to develop team skills and an entrepreneurial mindset.
Please note that some sessions have capacity limits, and you may be put on a waiting list - sign up early to avoid disappointment, and as always, if you can no longer make a session, please email workinprogress@lancaster.ac.uk to let us know so we can offer your place to somebody else.
This event is part of the U Start project which is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the Northern Powerhouse scheme.
