WIP Member Profile: Start-up

Nicolas has been a member of the Work in Progress Community since 2018 when he received coaching sessions and support from the WIP Team. Since then, Nicolas has attended a variety of events and has shared what he has learned with the WIP Community.

The O-Wind is a bladeless, omnidirectional wind turbine that is ideal for use in urban environments.

Nicolas' Story

Nicolas is an Industrial Designer from Chile. With ten years of professional experience in innovation and product design, he decided to do a MSc in International Innovation at Lancaster University.

ln preparation for the James Dyson Award contest, Nicolas approached Work in Progress and received coaching sessions and support from the WIP Team. Nicolas says ‘WIP helped me in shaping the presentation for the contest and in thinking on how this could become a business.’ 

 ‘The Enterprise Team helped me in understanding how things work in the UK and helped me understand how entrepreneurs, like me, grow in this current day and age. They encouraged me all the way and helped me see how to take O-Innovations forward.’ Nicolas said.  

Since winning the James Dyson award, O-Innovations have won a further 12 Innovation Awards. The O-Wind is currently in the prototype stage and is expected to be available for purchase in 2024.
