Join the Work Foundation for an exclusive interview with Jonathan Ashworth MP (Shadow Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, Labour Party)

With the Bank of England forecasting a recession, workers being hit by the biggest fall in real terms pay on record and the UK’s tight labour market beginning to show signs of softening, the Work Foundation will be hosting a series of Work Matters 2022 discussions with leaders from across the political spectrum to discuss the key issues facing workers, employers, communities and the labour market.

Join the Work Foundation for an exclusive interview with Jonathan Ashworth MP (Shadow Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, Labour Party) with Ben Harrison (Director, Work Foundation) to hear his views on how the UK Government can support people most in need and build towards a fairer and more dynamic economy in the future.

Jonathan also served as Shadow Minister without Portfolio and Shadow Cabinet Minister, and is a Policy Fellow at the Centre for Science and Policy at the University of Cambridge. In March 2021, he was appointed to the Privy Council by the Queen. Before becoming an MP he worked in the Treasury as a special advisor to Gordon Brown when he was Chancellor, and continued to work for Gordon Brown when he became Prime Minister. Outside of politics, Jonathan is a keen book-worm, and runner, and lives with his wife and two little girls in Leicester.
