History of Philosophy in the 17th & 18th Centuries

Note on Induction

The sun has always risen in the past.

______________________________

Therefore, the sun will rise tomorrow.

The conclusion here does not follow, according to Hume.
What is needed is an additional premise:

The future will resemble the past.

What might justify this premise? Maybe this:

In the past, the future has always resembled the past.

Therefore, in the future the future will resemble the past.

But this again needs the premise:

The future will resemble the past.
