Registration Details:

Please register as directed on the Registration form, and send the form with payment to: Dr John McGavin, English, School of Humanities, University of Southampton, Southampton SO17 1BJ by 10 March 2007.
Should you need overnight accommodation on the 30 March then please refer to Accommodation section below. Please note: the timing of the meeting means that student accommodation on campus will not be available.

Registration Cost

Ł30 per person, includes morning and afternoon coffee/tea and biscuits, and a buffet lunch (includes vegetarian). A copy of the lunch menu is attached. Please notify any special menu requirements to Andrew Prescott as soon as possible.
The first two full-time postgraduate students to apply will have the cost of the day paid by Medieval English Theatre.

Please book directly with the hotel letting Reception know that you are part of the block booking made by Julie Banham of the University of Sheffield for the Medieval English Theatre Conference (METh). Please book as quickly as possible to avoid disappointment. Andrew Prescott will be staying at the hotel to help with transport. You may wish to consult other hotels on the list ‘Local Hotels & Accommodation’, which has also been attached to the email (please note that rates cited in this guide are for 2006, and may now have increased slightly). If you require a hard copy of this, please indicate on the registration document. If you plan to stay overnight on Friday and will be arriving early that day, a copy of the University of Sheffield’s visitor’s guide, listing many new attractions in the city, such as the Millennium Galleries and the Winter Gardens, is attached.

Programme
Friday

For those who wish to arrive on the Friday: we will gather in the Garrison foyer at 6.45pm before going on to the Zucca Italian restaurant at the MacDonald St Paul’s hotel in the centre of the town on Norfolk St. The simplest way to get there is by tram which stops outside the Garrison hotel complex and runs regularly into town. It is also possible to take the tram directly from the railway station to the Garrison hotel and the Humanities Research Institute. Those staying elsewhere please arrive at St Paul’s no later than 7.15pm. If you need transport to and from the meal then please indicate this on the registration form. We will try to cover the arrangements via METh members. Saturday

The Programme is a full one, but to help those who wish to travel on the Saturday, we will begin registration at 10 a.m. and the full programme at 10.30.
Research: : Elisabeth Dutton (Worcester College, Oxford) and colleagues will give us “Magnyfycence (Abridged): a performance”. The following will give papers at the meeting: Dermot Cavanagh (Edinburgh) “Magnyfycence and Tragic Drama”; Elizabeth Evershed (Durham) “Skelton's Literary Communities, Real and Ideal”; John Scattergood (Dublin; final title to follow); Astrid Stilma (Canterbury) “John Skelton’s Magnyfycence and the Advice-to-Princes Tradition”; Greg Walker (Leicester) will sum up the day.
The Business section will begin with reports on digital or collaborative projects around 4.00 p.m. Please indicate on the registration form if you wish to make a report. It is expected that there will be a report on articles of association for the Medieval English Theatre group.
