This year the Medieval English Theatre meeting will go to Nottingham for the first time,
kindly hosted by Janette Dillon.
The programme for the meeting is as follows:-
- Tracy Cruickshank: Theoretical Approaches to the Language of Theatre
- John McGavin: 'That thin skin': the language of record
- Elsa Strietman: The Language of Evil in some Rhetoricians' Plays
- Bob Godfrey: Pronouncing Middle English for Modern Audiences
- John Anderson: 'Translating' the Mystery Plays.
- Sarah Carpenter (the Body), Olga Horner, Pamela M. King,
and Meg Twycross (the Worms) : A Disputation between the Body and Worms (entertainment)
- Olga Horner: Legal Language in English Medieval Plays
- Sarah Carpenter: 'Lingua: the Combat
of the Tongue and the Five Senses'
- Annual General Meeting of Medieval English Theatre
The day will begin at 10.00 a.m. and finish with the Annual General Meeting around 4.30 p.m.
The cost, £20.00 per person, includes morning coffee, buffet lunch, and afternoon tea, as
well as covering overheads. Those not wishing to pay for lunch may register at the reduced
price of £9.00. The first two registered full-time postgraduate students to apply will be
paid for for the day by Medieval English Theatre. Please pass news of the day on to anyone
