Extensive coverage for research by the Centre for Performance-Led HR (CPHR) in the Management School into customer satisfaction conducted for MacDonalds appeared this week, including the Times and the Sydney Morning Herald, Recruitment Today, Malaysian News, South Korean News.

Lancaster University’s success in the recent Student Satisfaction Survey has been covered by several local papers, such as the Lancaster Guardian, The Morecambe Visitor, the Lancashire Evening Post and Manchester Evening News. Lancaster has been voted top university in the North for student satisfaction.

The appointment of Anthony Marsella as the new Director of Communications and External Linkages has been featured in Marketing Magazine, 10 August and also on the Brand Republic website, 10 August.

Sue Peters (LUMS) was interviewed on BBC television breakfast news, 5 August, talking about her experience of businesses being able to access funding through the banks. The story was about an eco-building project at Capernwray Carnforth, which had its funding cut when the banks pulled the plug. The owners managed to raise finance themselves – and pulled through. Sue also appeared on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme.

Dr Paul Coulton and PhD students Mark Lochrie and Kate Lund (InfoLab21) were featured in the Lancaster Guardian, following their success in receiving the Adobe FlashLite Developer Challenge Innovation Prize 2009 for their Big Game Huntr mobile phone game. Other coverage included: Pendle Today, Lakeland Echo and the Lancashire Evening Post, the Garstang Courier and the Lancashire Evening Post.

Dr Barbara Tiger (HR) was interviewed on BBC Radio Lancashire, 14 August, about a campaign which has been launched for parents who feel at a loss when asked basic science questions by their children. To listen again follow the link, the interview begins at 1:19:52.

Dr Robert Appelbaum (English and Creative Writing) is featured in The Times Higher Education, reviewing a book, A Revolution in Taste: The Rise of French Cuisine 1650-1800, By Susan Pinkard. Cambridge University Press.

Lancaster Art graduate Geraldine O'Reilly is featured in the Strabane Chronicle (Northern Ireland) about a solo exhibition of her work to be exhibited in Ireland. The exhibition is entitled 'Aspects'.

Professor Cary Cooper has been interviewed on BBC Radio 4, PM Programme, about the role that psychology plays in sickness—based on Ronnie Biggs recent apparent recovery. Professor Cooper was also interviewed in the Telegraph, August, about increasing numbers of employees who are taking two weeks and a day off before returning to the workplace and what the psychological benefits this can bring to both employer and employee.

Dr Rob Simmons (LUMS) was interviewed on BBC Radio Wales, 29 July, about the economic benefits for Wales in respect of Rugby.

Professor Richard Bardgett (Biology) was featured on the Yubanet website, 31 July, in connection with research he is conducting on the below-ground biodiversity of two Alaskan ecosystems.
