In this paper, the evolution of blockchain will be discussed, along with how the technology works. Followed by the main implementations of blockchain, which includes; Ethereum, Hyperledger Fabric, R3 Corda, Ripple and Quorum. Moreover, the applications of blockchain will then be reviewed, focusing more on the healthcare and education sectors. Finally, some limitations of the technology will be addressed.
