Business Analysis of the Economy of Communion

The Economy of Communion draws inspiration from the Civil Economy. It is a real business practice based on the tripartition of profit: a third is reinvested in the company, a third is used for the “culture of giving” and a third is addressed to reduce poverty. With my dissertation, I intend to analyze the theoretical literature on the Economy of Communion through a quantitative and qualitative questionnaire. Questions are taken from the European Values Study (2017) and the Deloitte global family business survey (2019) and examine values, motives, strategy and performance of entrepreneurs from EoC and not EoC companies. The scope is to obtain quantifiable data and have a rational instrument of comparability for the two samples. The motives behind this proposed dissertation come from a genuine interest. I am curious to know if it is possible to run a business going beyond people’s ultimate goal for profit maximization. I hope that through the development of my research I will be able to experience in first person what it is like to do business in a work environment where the individual develop a sense of communion and prioritise the culture of giving.
