Shonoiki Olanshile

Project participant in Nigeria

Shonoiki Olanshile was born in Lagos, Nigeria, and has lived there ever since. He started writing very early in life and as a result feels comfortable with different genres. He writes short fiction, plays, film scripts, comic scripts, literary critiques and essays. He however considers himself a 'retired poet'.
His first book, The Adventures of Big Joe, was published in 2005. He freelances for several magazines on a regular basis. He was a participant in the British Council's online mentoring scheme, Crossing Borders. His story What the Oracle Said won a prize in the Commonwealth Short Story Competition in 2005.
Outside writing, he is an amateur photographer, a computer programmer, a web developer and an avid chess player.
