Research Activities

Since it was founded in 2006, the Centre for Transcultural Writing and Research has raised the profile of a range of transcultural and intercultural research activities, including:

  • Moving Manchester
    How migration impacted upon contemporary writing in Manchester.
  • Narrating the North
    Collaboration between Litfest and
    Lancaster producing new texts.
  • Regarding War
    The ways in which armed conflicts touch individuals and communities.

Journal of Transcultural Writing

Planned for 2013, our journal of transcultural writing will be an innovative multi-media publication derived from our Trans-Scriptions events series, featuring creative and critical writings, video and sound recordings, and recorded interviews with participating writers.

Each new issue will be featured on our home-page, providing resources for scholarship and new creative work.

Postgraduate Community

The Lancaster University postgraduate Creative Writing Programme is one of the longest established and most prestigious writing programmes in the UK. It forms an integral part of the larger Department of English & Creative Writing and is located in County College for most teaching and administrative purposes.  It also has a rapidly growing distance learning programmes at both MA and PhD level, enabling students to study wholly or partly away from the university campus.
