Event Details

STOR-i is hosting a week-long Spring School, open to Maths and Statistics PhD students. This free event features a 2-day Masterclass on Network Modelling, talks from experts in Statistics and Operational Research, and a 2.5 day real-world data challenge alongside Nesta, one of our charity partners.

  • Masterclass: Professor Brendan Murphy from University College Dublin will deliver a 2-day masterclass on network modelling, covering the following:

Statistical Modelling of Network Data

This course will cover aspects of modelling network data. The course will start with an introduction to networks and properties of networks. It will cover a range of network models including the Erdos-Renyi model, exponential random graph models (ERGM), the stochastic block model (SBM) and its extensions and latent space models (LSM) and their extensions. Some code examples will be developed in the course.

  • Talks: Hear from alumni, academics, and industrial partners sharing their experiences in academia and industry.
  • Data Dive: Collaborate on a 2.5 day long real-world data challenge alongside Nesta, one of our charity partners.

Directions to Lancaster Conference Centre

Leave the M6 motorway at Junction 33 and take the A6 north towards Lancaster. For Lancaster Conference Centre turn right at the roundabout at the top of the main University driveway.  Follow the road down to by the netball courts and Management School. We recommend that delegates use Visitor Car Parking Zones H, G or F when visiting the Conference Centre.  If you are on our day delegate or 24 hour residential package, free car parking permits can be collected from the Conference Centre on arrival. Alternatively, the parking is pay and display and cards are accepted. Please note that we politely ask delegates to refrain from parking within the grounds of Lancaster House Hotel. Lancaster Conference Centre can be found in the Green Zone on the campus map and is marked by the letters LCC.
