Background

I am Wanchen Yue and I am currently a MRes student at STOR-i Centre for Doctoral Training, Lancaster University. Before coming to Lancaster, I graduated from the University of Nottingham with a BSc in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics in 2021. The following year I studied at Imperial College London where I completed my MSc in Statistics.

During my undergraduate degree, I undertook two summer research projects relating to theoretical computer science and Metropolis-Hasting MCMC algorithm, upon completion of the projects, I was eager to further immerse myself in a more advanced study to learn more statistical knowledge and data analytical skills so as to devote myself into the study of real-world problems. In my Master’s degree, I developed an interest in time series and stochastic process and completed my Master’s thesis on changepoint detection and trend analysis on climate data.

Hobbies

Outside of academics, I have a wide range of hobbies. I enjoy drawing and designing. I love visiting different galleries around the world.

Another main hobby of mine is music, I started learning violin since I was 7 and I’ve been a violin & viola player in the orchestra for more than 10 years. My favourite composer includes (— but not limited to) Johannes Brahms, Antonio Lucio Vivaldi…
