Forecasting the Daily Number of Attendances in Emergency Departments
- Worked full-time for the NHS, Information Service Division and Public Health Scotland, as an information analyst in the Accident and Emergency (A&E) team.
- Independently worked on helping hospitals effectively manage their healthcare resources by predicting the daily number of attendances in emergency departments and predicting patient’s waiting time.
- Performed exploratory data analyses and built time series forecasting models, predicting the number of daily attendances, and median waiting times in emergency departments.
- Identified seasonalities in the time series using ACF and PACF plots, checked residuals with Ljung-Box tests and fitted multi-seasonality models such as TBATS, Autoregressive Neural Networks and ARIMA with fourier terms as external regressors.
