About me

I was drawn to STOR-i’s combination of academic excellence, focus on real world applications and supportive team atmosphere.

I read History at Trinity College, Cambridge, graduating in 2007. I went straight into journalism after this, working at a capital markets newspaper during a long period of crisis and unconventional monetary policy in global financial markets.

During my career I became increasingly aware of — and more interested in — the ways in which individuals and institutions use statistics to understand what is going on in the world and to inform decisions. I began studying statistics part-time, alongside my job, at Birkbeck College, University of London. I completed a Graduate Certificate in Statistics before going on to Birkbeck’s MSc in Applied Statistics, taking some option modules in operational research.

I am excited to have the opportunity at STOR-i to deepen my knowledge of key topics in Statistics and OR before exploring areas of cutting-edge research and the practical problems that motivate them.
