October 2022-May 2023 was my first year at STOR-i. In the autumn term I took part in several “Sprints”. These are weekly group projects where we did research about particular topics. We covered things such as Stochastic Optimisation, MCMC Algorithms, Changepoint Analysis and Anomaly Detection, and Bandits/Decision Theory. We did a presentation at the end of each week (found below) and a final report furthering one in particular. My report on MCMC Algorithms is also available.
I have also done an 8 page report on queueing networks. This was my Research Topic 1 (RT1). The first page is an overview that is more accessible and suitable for public dissemination. The following seven pages are a more rigourous introduction to basic queueing theory concepts and the idea of a queueing network.
I then did a longer report in statistical ecology, specifically an introduction to capture-recapture data for population measurement. This served as my Research Topic 2 (RT2).
