This is my first blog post, so let’s start with an introduction! I am an MRes student with STOR-i CDT. That is, I research statistics and operational research in partnership with industry at Lancaster University. STOR-i is a CDT which stands for Centre for Doctoral Training. It’s a four year programme, where the first year is a Master of Research (MRes!) in stats and OR which is then followed by a three year PhD. I am still in the first term of my MRes which means I am still discovering my favourite areas which I may focus on in my PhD. These currently include stochastic simulation, queueing theory, changepoint analysis, anomaly detection and MCMC algorithms – just to name a few! I will hopefully make another blog post in the next few months detailing my progress and what my interests are then. Thanks for reading!
