Hi there!
I’m Maddie, a current student at the STOR-i Centre for Docotoral Training (CDT) at Lancaster University. I’m studying a combined MRes and PhD in Statistics and Operational Research.
I am passionate about research, and also the university. I am a loyal Lancaster student; I completed my four year undergraduate degree here, studying an integrated master’s degree in Theoretical Physics with Mathematics.
For my master’s project, I completed research relating to internal proton structure. This was to aid experiments being carried out at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN, and has since been featured in a publication.
Upon joining STOR-i, the areas of Statistics and Operational Research were new territory for me, as a consequence of my background in Applied Mathematics and Physics. I was excited for this change in direction, and have sinced enjoyed developing new skills that align with my future career goals.
Currently, I am in the second year of my PhD, following completing the MRes year with STOR-i. I am working on an industrial project, where I am focusing on time series, forecasting and state space models.
In my free time, I enjoy cooking and baking, as well as anything creative. I enjoy collecting art, and I spend a lot of my own time drawing and painting. In order to relax from my studies, I can often be found out on a walk or practising yoga.
On this website you will find some information about STOR-i, and blog posts about my research topics and interests. I hope you find it both useful and enjoyable, and should you want to know anything else, please contact me!
