PhD Student at STOR-i Centre for Doctoral Training, Lancaster University
My PhD project is entitled ‘Understanding Neuronal Synchronisation in High Dimensions’. I am supervised by Dr Carolina Euan and Dr Alex Gibberd from Lancaster University, alongside Professor Ali Shojaie from the University of Washington.
Currently, we are developing new statistical methods to aid our understanding of how large populations of neurons in the brain interact. Our research focusses on advances in spectral analysis for neuroscience spike train data, and in particular statistical estimation methods for the construction of networks of neuronal interactions. STEM for Britain Finalist 2024
In March 2024, I attended the STEM for Britain final at the Houses of Parliament, where I presented my research on the Statistical Analysis of Brain Activity. My work was selected from hundreds of applications from early career researchers and was shortlisted for the final. I had the honour of showing my work to politicians and a panel of expert judges.
This was a great experience, and one that I was able to share with fellow STOR-i student Matthew Speers, who was also selected to present his work.
