Quant-XRD:
Quantitative X-ray diffraction software, by Mark W Hounslow
Calculates semi-quantitative amounts of minerals in x-ray diffraction power mounts. Uses multiple peak areas (or heights) an inputs. Uses the methodology suggested by Hooten and Giorgetta (1977) and Hardy and Tucker (1988). Also detailed in Hounslow and Maher (1999). Program has uses in mineralogy and quantitative analysis of mineral magnetic extracts.

The above is a screen shot of the software, showing the Minerals reference database and the standards database windows open. The window in the upper right is a sample file, for some data from magnetic extracts from the Indian Ocean. In the bottom right is the calculation window, showing calculated weight percentages of minerals based on this data. |
