Free cycle maintenance sessions for staff and students aimed at the novice/beginner/infrequent cyclist - funded by Big Bike Revival, Cycling UK Charity.
Basic Bike Maintenance sessions (2hr) for adult novice/beginner/infrequent cyclists.
Sessions are free and funded by Big Bike Revival, Cycling UK charity.
The session will cover;
- How to remove the rear wheel
- Replacing a puncture with a new inner tube
- How to adjust the brakes and gears
- If there is time other areas of interest requested by attendees will be covered.
Each section will be taught in a group followed by individual practice on a bike. These are interactive sessions so please ask questions as they arise. There are no stupid questions only poor answers.
Feel free to bring your bike but this is not a requirement to attend.
Please wear warm clothes and sensible shoes for working on a bicycle. Gloves will be provided for working on bicycles if required.
Tea, coffee and biscuits provided.
Sessions taught by Yim Lo, City and Guilds qualified bicycle mechanic with 7 ½ years experience of professional bicycle maintenance (presently running Sunflower Cycles and previously a Mobile Bicycle Repair business in Shropshire) Helping the smooth running of the session will be Deborah Simmonds, founder of Sunflower Cycles and keen touring cyclist.

Covid national guidance will be followed. Participants are limited to 6 per session and will work in pairs. There will be three independent workstations. Each workstation will have a bike repair stand and a set of tools to minimise contact. Facemask, sanitiser and gloves are available at each session. Please follow social distancing guidelines and do not attend if you feel unwell or have tested positive for Covid.
