About Sport Lancaster

Sport Lancaster is a big place, with lots going on for students, staff and the local community. Take the time to explore our award winning, purpose built facilities, see what's on offer from the University and find out how to get involved with our clubs and societies.

Be a part of something special

Sport Lancaster began as a small sports hall on Lancaster University’s main campus in 1964. Today, after over £25 million invested into the facility, we are proud to provide a safe and accessible space for not only Lancaster University students and staff, but the wider community to engage in sport, fitness, and wellbeing, too.

We aim to motivate and guide users of the facility to achieve their goals whilst having fun, using the latest, industry-leading equipment to support strength, fitness, and confidence, whatever their ability level.

Supporting our clubs and societies

Sport Lancaster is a partnership between Lancaster University and Lancaster University Students’ Union providing students with opportunities to be active.

On an individual basis, we support clubs and societies that are working towards the annual Roses competition and BUCS with financial assistance, coaching, specialised training, and facility access throughout the academic year.

Lancaster University’s intercollegiate competitions are big events and each year they draw big crowds. More serious student competitors will join one (or more) of the 60 University Sports Clubs on offer and represent the University at BUCS (British University College Sport) competitions against UK universities.

Our facilities are also used by local teams such as Morecambe Football Club.
