Social Work Placements and COVID-19

Lancaster University's Social Work team have been praised as an example of best practice by national body Social Work England for the way they have dealt with student placements during the COVID-19 epidemic.

Despite the pressure to pull students out of placement as the nation went into lockdown, Lancaster University staff worked closely with local authorities, other regional universities and social work agencies to ensure that most placements were able to continue, even remotely.

The staff at Lancaster have been thrilled with students' responses to the initiatives they have taken to help maintain placements. Many students have shown courage and determination to keep working in their placement settings, both physically and virtually.
