Why Lancaster

Lancaster is proud of its 2018 staff survey results, with 91% of staff stating that the University is a good place to work. We think this cements our position as an employer of choice, regionally, national and internationally.

Testimonials

Professor Peter Atkinson, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology, said: "Lancaster is well known for excellence in all that it does across research, teaching and engagement, and this investment in cyber security is an excellent example of all three. However, Lancaster is also a great place to work, with its friendly, open and welcoming atmosphere. This is what makes the difference, and it is this that will assure the success of this ambitious venture.”

Professor Basil Germond, from the Department of Politics, Philosophy and Religion, said: "Lancaster’s approach to security is truly cross-disciplinary. This balance between science and social science, between the technological and the human dimension of security, is instrumental in elaborating and delivering solutions to today’s complex security challenges that affect people and societies."

Lancaster University

The Lancaster University campus is set in 360 acres of parkland with views of the Lake District and the beautiful Lancashire coastline. Since 2003, it has invested in excess of £500m in new college residential and social facilities, new and refurbished teaching spaces, a new sports centre and new research facilities. Security and Protection Science at Lancaster and the new Data Cyber Quarter will be the latest multi-million pound investment in the University's capabilities.

Lancaster's performance in the Research Excellence Framework (2014) has placed it among the top universities in the UK, and this reflects its increasing portfolio of regional, national and international research partnerships, and outstanding record for teaching quality. The University's renowned collegiate system also encourages interactions between staff and students and provides the opportunity to build up interdisciplinary work.
