Who we are
The Researcher Careers and Development (RCaD) group represents and supports time-limited researchers at Lancaster University, working to enhance professional development, community building, and career progression across disciplines. We welcome researchers at early career stages as well as those who already have varying levels of research experience.
What We Do
The RCaD supports the professional development, career progression, and sense of community of researchers at Lancaster University. We organize events and activities that focus on career development, research visibility, skills training, and peer connection.
Recent and upcoming events have included a Dragon’s Den–style pitching event, a Celebration of Science forum for postdoctoral researchers, sessions on teaching development, and grant-writing and promotion workshops.
Suggesting Activities
We want to organise events that reflect your needs and interests. If there is a skill you would like to develop, an area where you feel additional support would be valuable, or an idea for an event you would like to see, please get in touch. We will do our best to incorporate your suggestions into future RCaD activities.
Getting in Touch / Support
The RCaD team is here to support researchers and to help address issues affecting our community. If you need advice, guidance, or simply want to discuss a challenge you are facing, please get in touch with us. We are happy to listen and to help you find appropriate support.
All conversations will be treated sensitively and confidentially wherever necessary.
