Ziad has over 33 years’ experience on entrepreneurship, strategic business development, planning and Road mapping, marketing, and management of product development and activities in applied superconductivity, low and high temperature superconducting materials, cryogenics, quantum, and nanotechnology applications for scientific, medical, energy, transport, and industrial sectors.
In 2021 Ziad retired from Oxford Instruments NanoScience (OINS) where he was the Strategic Business Development Manager overseeing collaborative R&D projects for quantum, nanoscience, and nanotechnology applications, and managing alliances with strategic university partners.
Since leaving OINS he founded Oxford Quantum Solutions Ltd, an independent innovation consultancy. He is a technical authority on superconductors, cryogenics, and instrumentation in quantum and nanotechnology applications for physical sciences, life sciences, energy, transport and power. Since 1st Jan 2022, Ziad is a Non-Executive Director for Intelliconnect Europe Ltd focusing on product development of solutions for Quantum Technologies.
Professional Role
Ziad is active at national and international level and member of a variety of international and national committees and organizations and Advisory Board for different projects and initiatives on superconducting, quantum and cryogenic applications. Since 2020 Ziad is a member of the Quantum Industrial Consortium (QuIC) of Europe and the Leader of the Marketing and Technology Intelligence Group. Ziad is a Senior Member of the IEEE and a member of Institute of Physics (IOP), a member of the Institute of Physics (IOP) Superconductivity committee and from 6th of Oct 2022 Chairman of the British Cryogenic Council (BCC). Member of the international organizing committee for Magnet Technology (MT) conferences (Since 2017)) and member of the organizing committee for the ICEC (Sep 2018) Oxford, member of the organizing committee of the Oxford University Quantum Hub event on Cryogenic Electronics (Oct 2020). Since 2021 chairman of the International Advisory Committee. Of the Cryogenic Conference (16th (2021)and 17th(2023). Currently chairing the FuSuMaTech European initiative on Superconducting Magnet Technology and the IOP Superconductivity Summer School series (2022, 2021, 2018, 2016, 2014, 2012, 2010) and chairing the Advisory Board for the . Recently Ziad, initiated a Superconductivity Global Alliance (ScGA) initiative for Cleaner, Healthier, Prosperous, and sustainable Future developing a public and private partnership to address future strategic development goals identified by the UN including among other things addressing the global zero carbon emissions targets for 2050.
