Research Overview

My research interests primarily focus on athletes as a population, and how they perceive their affordances (action capabilities), within highly dynamic sports environments. In these settings, the potential actions available to an athlete continuously evolve as the game itself does. More specifically, I am interested in the perception of interceptive affordances among athletes within invasion sports, such as football, when in competition with opponents. My PhD will investigate various factors relating to the athletes themselves, and their sporting environments, to understand how athletes make real-time interceptive action decisions during matches.
