The state-of-the-art computer labs at the University are highly customisable physical and digital environments designed to enhance the student experience.
Lancaster University offers these cutting-edge education facilities specifically to support the training of the next generation of computer science and cyber security specialists. One of the largest educational facilities of this type in the country, it underpins the University's ambitions to deliver the talent pipeline needed to support the growth in regional and national demand for experts in the cyber security field.
Built with flexibility and security in mind, these labs enable threat and behaviour analysis to take place, and the identification of sophisticated attacks to be tested – all in a safe and controlled environment.

High-end computing capabilities
All of our own lab machines run the Ubuntu operating system, and we also have a remote virtual machine access service allowing you to use our lab software from your own computer, anywhere on the campus.

Programmable features
Each of our Cyber Labs features a programmable light wall, which can be used to provide feedback on progress during lab exercises, or used to adjust the ambient lighting of the labs.

Exclusive access
The keycard entry system in operation for accessing the labs means that these facilities are available exclusively for School of Computing Communications staff and students.
