(56) comeinge forth in white raiment: & a mighty meetinge
there was & is to this day: neere Sedbarr w.^ch I gathered in ye name
of Jesus
And in ye weeke day: there was a great feare for hirei[ng]
*seruants:* & I went to ye faire & declared through
ye faire ye day of ye Lorde: & after I had donne
I went Into ye steeplehouse yarde: & most of
ye people of ye faire came to mee & abundans
of preists & proffessors: & there I declared ye euerlastinge

was come to teach his people himselfe & to
bringe y:^m of all ye worlds ways & teachers to X^t
there way to God: & layde open all there teachers
& sett vppe ye true teacher X^t Jesus: & how they was
Judged by ye prophetts X^t & ye Apostles & to
bringe y.^m off ye temples made with hands y.^t they
y^mselues might know they was ye temples of God
& neuer a preist had powr to open h his mouth
butt at last a Capt: said why woulde I not goe
Into ye churche ( & I saide vnto him I denyed there
church:) for y.^tt was not a fitt place to preache in

& there stoode vpp a seperate preacher one ffrancis Howgill
y^t had not seene mee before: & soe hee begane
to dispute with ye Captaine but hee helde his
peace: & then saide ff: H: this man speakes
with authority & not as ye scribes: & soe I
opned to ye people y^t: y^t: grounde & house was noe
& y^t house was not y^e: church; butt y^e: people w.^ch X^t is y^e: heade offe
holyor then another place: ʌ & soe after a while
y^t I had made a stand amongst ye people: ye
preists came vppe to mee & I warned y.^m to
repent. & one of y:^m saide I was madd: & soe

[page 29] and presently after there was a great fair to be at Sedbury, near Gervace Bensons where many young people ʌcame to be hyred and I went through the fair and spoke, and then went into y:^e steeple house yard, and gote upp by a tree and spoke to y:^e people largly, many Professors and priests being theirre; and to bring them off of their teachers to Christ their teacher, and to come off, of their worshipps to worship God in the spirit, and to come off, of their Churches to the Church in God, and had no opposition,








but only one Cap: which said the steeplehouse was the Church, which I told him y:^t was a place of lime and stone and wood, for the Church was in God as in 1 thess: 1. and i. and so after had some few words hee passed away, and the truth came over ʌall and many were satisfied concerning it; and when I was passing away, one priest said to y:^e people; I was distracted; his mouth being stopped by y:^e power of God for opposing, y:^t was onely his cover to y:^e People
