When Fox reached the summit of Pendle Hill, he must have had near perfect visibility. He says that ‘ye Lorde lett mee see a toppe of ye hill In what places hee had a great people’. If he literally means that he saw the fells around Sedbergh, he would be looking to the NNW, just to the left of Ingleborough. He would not be able to see Sedbergh itself, which is in the Rawthey valley.

‘Lancasheer sea’ would be the Irish Sea and the outer reaches of Morecambe Bay. He would not quite be able to see Ulverston or Lancaster: the fells of the Forest of Bowland are in the way. The exact extent of the Bay would be invisible.
