Kendal: The Fleece Inn (14 Highgate)

Traditionally the oldest surviving public house in Kendal, though the date-plaque ‘1654’ probably belongs to the house to the left of the photo (the amusement arcade), which was briefly part of the inn around 1723 [NMR]. It is however basically a late 17th-century/early 18th-century construction, though later generations have altered the windows and updated the interior.
