Countersett Hall above Semerwater

Fox did not meet Richard Robinson (1623-93) of Countersett on this journey: Robinson merely heard of him from others. It therefore seems unlikely that he skirted the north end of Semerwater, which would have brought him through Countersett. He probably followed the west branch of the road along the edge of the Blean and Brough Pastures to Bainbridge. He stayed at Countersett in 1677, and the room over the porch is pointed out as 'his' bedroom.
