Arnside Tower
15th-century pele tower, originally four or five storeys high. It caught fire in 1602, but was mended and still in use when Fox passed by. It was partially demolished for building materials in the later 17th century. See Matthew Emmott in Visit Cumbria, and The castles, towers and fortified buildings of Cumbria. It was held in turn by the de Bethoms, Middletons, and in Fox's time, the Stanleys. It is a Grade II listed building.
