Our research explores cultural and individual differences in language and cognitive development, aiming to understand both typical and atypical developmental trajectories and processes.
We focus on a range of neurodiverse conditions, including ADHD, autism, dyslexia, S-RCD specific reading comprehension difficulties, DLD and hearing and listening difficulties, examining how language and cognitive development manifest across these groups. Additionally, we investigate how cognitive factors such as working memory and curiosity relate to real-world outcomes, like academic achievement. Our work also explores the practical applications of our findings, including implications for hearing technologies and autism interventions. Ultimately, our research has both theoretical and practical significance, contributing to a deeper understanding of developmental variation and informing how it should be assessed and supported.
