Auditory Neuroscience across the Lifespan

A watercolour of sounds coming from a person's ear

This theme covers a broad range of research that extends from ear to brain and beyond. Researchers investigate the neural basis of hearing, speech, and communication, and associated impacts on educational attainment, mental health, and physical health.

Our research includes participants from every decade of life and also focuses on how the perception of sound and neural responses to sound can be used as biomarkers to predict later development or indicative of (clinical) changes to neural function later in life.
