Staying in the pipeline

Women disproportionately leave STEM careers at all points in the academic pipeline, the reasons for which are complex and varied. I will discuss my own experience of leaving academia for a career in finance, and of returning 6 years later to do a PhD and subsequently a postdoc in theoretical physics. This somewhat unusual career path has given me an insight into the relative merits of physics versus the “real world”. If you are wondering if leaving physics may be the right choice for you, I encourage you to come and hear about my experiences before making your decision. Questions will be welcome.

The talk is open to all those who are interested, especially relevant to those thinking of their future with or without academia. Refreshments (cake!) will be provided.
