CREATING CD COMPANIONS

Date: Tuesday 3rd February 1998

Time: please phone CTI Music for details

Venue: University of Strathclyde

Format: A group tutorial on creating CD companions using the 'CD-Tour Generator' software.

One of the most useful end products of the TLTP Music Consortium's work was a program called the CD-Tour Generator which enables staff and/or students to produce computer-based 'companions' to any commercial (or home produced) CD recording.

The software is free of charge to UK institutions of Higher Education and is designed to be easy to use, requiring no programming skills.

CTI Music offers group tutorials in the use of the CD Tour Generator. Participants will receive copies of the software and its documentation and will be guided through the techniques of producing a CD-Tour.

Do not expect to produce a finished tour in this session but please DO bring a CD of your choice. This tutorial will show you the way the program works and give you a feel for how to approach structuring your tour commentary. This is best achieved with a CD of music of the type you might wish to work with for real. If you are likely to want to refer to a score of the piece, please bring that along too - the benefits and limitations of the 'auto bar-numbering' feature are again easier to appreciate if you can refer them to something specific.

Places are strictly limited - if you are interested in attending, please contact us by phone (01524 593776 / 592614) or by email.

Please get in touch with us if you'd like any more information.
