Special
Features:
The aim behind the audition process is twofold: to introduce our working practices by taking the interviewees through a simulated workshop warm-up session, which hopefully also creates a relaxed informal atmosphere in preparation for the audition itself.
Description
of Key Aspects:
Students are asked to prepare two audition pieces of approximately 2 mins each – one scripted and the other devised. As well as performing these, the candidates are required to discuss the pieces in their interview. They also have the option of preparing a song.
AnalysisThe group warm up activity allows staff to observe candidates group working skills: openness, flexibility, ability to work with others, natural movement quality etc.
Evaluation:
Feedback from candidates is very positive. They seem to appreciate the opportunity to meet and work with other candidates and staff and to be able to perform their audition pieces for a larger audience than just one staff interviewer.
